Ibara no Majustushi

There is a village where medicine is banned. It's considered black magic and evil. The people of the village can only rely on prayer when their loved ones are sick. A boy, who aspired to be a doctor and was banished from the village long ago, returns and he is determined to make a change.

Review
I was really surprised by this story. A shoujo manga without a romance plot. It was engaging and touching. I really like stories about people who strive for their goals. And I liked the friendship aspect of it as well. It gives you a surprise at the end.

The Witch of the Flower Forest

There is a witch who lives in a forest. She is feared by the village children as an evil person who eats cats and casts spells. A curious brother and sister approach the witch's house. Will they survive an encounter with the witch?

Review
It was an unbelievably sweet and warm story. It's a story of not many words but it teaches a lesson of human understanding and kindness.

Cat and Bird

Cat and Bird

Jin Young is a good student with good grades, but she has a little bit of an unstable mind. Hye Jung is a cheerful girl who helps out at her mom's "snack shop", a sort of small restaurant that offers light meals to diners. Both attended the same school, and both transferred to an independent-study private school, where they meet Si Hyung who is an instructor there. Si Hyung used to live in the same neighborhood with Jin Young when they were young, but he's surprised how Jin Young has changed into a cold person.

I read this oneshot a long tome ago and I still remember how much I loved it. :) It also introduced me to a beautiful and haunting poem the manhwa title is based on.

The Cat and the Bird
By: Jacques Prévert

A grieving village hears
The song of the wounded bird
It is the only bird of the village
And it is the only cat of the village
Who has half-eaten the bird
And the bird stops singing
And the cat stops purring
And licking his paw
And the village gives
The bird a marvelous funeral
And the cat who is invited
Walks behind the little straw casket
The little girl who carries the casket
Cannot stop crying
“If I knew that this would break your heart
I would have eaten the whole bird
And then I would have told you
The bird freely flew away,
Freely to the ends of the world
Somewhere too far
To come back to that place
I would have told you
At least it would have taken your sadness
It would have been only disappointing and
regretful.”

At The Park

Two best friends, one of them whose name is Yoko, spends time with each other as they set of fireworks at the park, but there is a meaning behind the get together. What is the reason for it?

Opinion
Very very short, only 8 pages long. Impactful. :/

Child Hazard

It's the story of a young student named Sahra who comes from a broken home. He has a difficult time getting along with his classmates (or, more precisely, he doesn't *want* to get along with his classmates), until a girl named Mai Omi decides to make her mission to help him feel accepted.

Opinion
The little girl in the story is amazing. You will love and hate the little boy. It was a nice sentimental story. =)

Ageha

Ageha
Yuuri and Miu had always been best friends. They tried hard together to become fashion models. However, Miu got to debut first, and their relationship started to break down. Surging dark feelings and jealousy...what is there beyond Yuuri’s agony…?!

Eternal Rainbow
After their mother died, a brother and sister suffer through a broken family life. Their father beats them often and they don't even talk to each other. In HS, a friend, Akira, shows them how to attain happiness again.

Kiss Me, Baby
A girl is dating a boy. Around the time their first year anniversary is coming up, the boy has become very insensitive which annoys the girl and hurts her feelings.

Opinion for Story 1
I really enjoyed it. I didn't hate the main girl too much and the guy who helps her out was awesome. I especially loved the ending with the text message and his reaction. Overall, lovely and painful story about friendship.
